GPL Rank - WHERE ARE YOU?

by Chris Bloo » Wed, 07 Jun 2000 04:00:00

I've been trying to compare my times to other contributers  to
RAS yet I am having a tough time finding them.  Is everybody
using a differant name in the rankings?

Someone mentioned here a while back that only the people in RAS
race GPL.  Well, 90% of the names at GPL rank I have never seen
mentioned here.

Well, I'm down at number 238........

I Need a lot more practice at the 'ring.  My current best is 10:08 in the

I noticed mostly unfamiliar names, too.  This group must have a LOT of
lurkers.

Yep, the 'Ring's killing me too.  Best time of 10:45, puts me overall at
#261 of 266 at +249.31.  But at least my 'Ring time is only .12 second
behind Dave Henrie!  Think we're both driving Dodge's out there.  Oh
Dave.....

GPL Rank - WHERE ARE YOU?

You just need practice.  A week ago, before GPL Rank came along,
my best time at the Ring was 10:58.  I'm now down to 9:09.
Unfortunately, when I signed up on Saturday I was 46th.  Now I'm
ranked 211th.  This is despite improving my handicap from +145
to +84.15 since Friday.

Oh well, I'll guess I'll have to go back to the Ring tonight.
At least GPL Rank is making me drive the Ring which I had all
but ignored before.

Cheers

I am glad to make you happy!
I am in fact a pious follower of St Eldred of world RAS fame, and I hope to
be one day as fast as he is.
But beware! I plan to practice at the 'Ring tonight, and plan to shave at
least a minute (yes! one minute must be the time lost in 5 of my many
crashes there ;) ).

Need practice?  Boy, you can say *that* again! <g>  I set that PB
yesterday morning, down from 11:02 in an Eagle before.  Switched to a
Brabham (much easier to turn) and stayed in 2nd gear probably about 80%
of the lap.  Finally made it around without a major incident and chopped
off a whopping 17 seconds.

Kudos to those who came up with this GPLRank idea, it is great.  Too bad
there isn't a similar way to rank F2 and F3 drivers as well.

I am alone in being able to get round the 'Ring reasonably quickly (just
under 9") but unable to get the hang of Mexico (just under 2")?

Where is Eldred? I've was planning on putting him in my buddy list but couldn't
find him.  I too hope to be as fast as Eldred some day, maybe in another year or
so.  For now I'm trying to get my Spa time below 3:30 (imagine complaining of a
3:23!).

Don't be shy of posting your time at GPL rank. I have yet to run on 5 of the
circuits but plan to give each a try by next week so I can get a rank. I expect
the Ring alone will put me over 200.  So have no fear as at least for the next
several months I expect to be near the bottom of the list. Lead on St Eldred.

Ken, i am waiting impatiently to see all of your laptimes. But I am afraid
that you are faster than me. Pfff!

SPECIAL MESSAGE:
Fervent call to our mentor EldredP

Please, St Eldred, post your times in GPLRank! We need them. You will then
be the new human benchmark (papy's times are way toooo fast, not to mention
Greger Huttu who really is superhuman)  that all the slow GPL racers of the
world have been waiting for.

I was under the impression St Eldred ;) had also posted his
times and have been busy trying to find his name in the list.
Maybe he has another name.
