Although I am gradually beginning to really like this sim one of the things
that I find very poor is the collisions. With the radio voice on I get told
I have collided with someone but there is no feedback that this has happened
either through the FF of the wheel or via any visual or audio clues. Does
anyone else find this or am I the only one. Every other sim I play I can
tell immediately if I have made contact with another car.

Well, I suppose you're not writing about collisions with a car in front of
you .  . .

I certainly get feedback through the FF wheel and the soundcard; and I've
been slewed sideways by a nudge from a latter-day Surtees, etc.  Perhaps
your FF is not set to max feedback?

Sorry--this isn't a very helpful response.  Perhaps others will have more.

I think I know what you mean.
The annoying guy on the radio just gets a little over-e***d if you ask me
=)
But seriously, I can feel all major collisions very well.
However, if you just brush against another car, the dork on the radio will
tell you that you collided with someone. (usually De La Rosa)
If you watch the replay, you can hardly even tell you hit him.  It's no
surprise that you can't feel it.
Try driving into the back of someone and if you get FF then everything's OK.
If you don't, then you have another problem...

You should hear the Finnish version. The guy speaking is sorta ok in his
laconic manner, but the editing of the voice clips is plain horrible.

SCHUMACHER... (click) j u s t... (click) under(click)three seconds...
(click) BEHIND!

(in Finnish, naturally)

The Finns are lucky for mostly being fluent in English. These localised
versions sometimes bug the hell outta me. Not for their usually crappy
execution, but for the fact that it takes extra times for an "Euro
version" to be released because of some other Euros who refuse to speak
and understand English even if they can.

This, however, is a valid point only with Yank games. F1 2000 wasn't
delayed in Finland waiting for the various Euro language dubbings.
Usually the "Euro versions" do not even contain Finnish. But in the case
of F1 games I guess it's quite clear why they do :-)

Oh, it's okay that the kids can understand the game language as well, I
guess.

Hmm, my German copy of the game offered English during installation,
so menus and speech are in English now (thanks to EA for that ;^).

If you would prefer English, too, you should check the installation
menus again, maybe you just missed it in your Finnish version.

Reading the name "Kai Ebel" on the box almost made me put the game
back on the shelf.
(He's the obnoxious(sp?) commentator of German RTL's F1 coverage).

Oh. Sorry. Did I give the expression that I didn't have a choice of
languages? The "Finnish" or rather Scandinavian version includes
installation option for English, Finnish, German, French, Spanish... and
more.

I use English because the Finnish voiceover is crap. My point was not in
complaining that the local F1 2000 didn't include other than Finnish.
Just that the Finnish is done badly, and generally being pissed off for
the extra time it takes for any game to be released in Europe for the
"required" (bad) localised speech and text when English would do just
fine.
