GPL:Sound and video, help me

I have a : P111-450
             :128mb ram
             :Asus TNT2 ultra
             :Dimond mx300
             :Gigabyte bxc2000 m/b
             :Fresh install win98se
             : and all the latest drivers, but
in Gpl the engine sound of my car comes on and off  ,when the sound
disaperers.If I pause the race it comes back and if the car makes the
skiding sound it goes again.

When I'm in the incar view, the mirror view is very choppy. The game
still runs fine thou.

                CAN ANYONE HELP ME ,because I love GPL.......

Disable directsound 3d on hardware
