T2 wheel question

According the the thrustmaster web page it says it highly recommends
a variable speed game card for the Formula T2 wheel. Unfortunately I
I don't have the option of installing a seperate game card on my
DX2/66 and was wondering what would be the result of using it without
the special game card.

Thanks

I have the T2 connected to my Pro Audio Spectrum 16 and it works fine!  Why
spend extra money and an expansion slot if you don't need to?

- I nearly bought an extra game card (at 35!) when I got my T2, but I
decided at last minute, thank God I did! - It works perfectly !!!
(by the way - I own a DX2/66 also!)

It works fine on my DX2/66 just plugged in to my Soundblaster16.
Other results may vary though.

I found that most sound boards work fine, BUT you need to watch out for
thermal calibration drift.  A couple of times last year I just couldn't
come close to my normal times no matter WHAT I tried.  Next day I came back
and had no trouble.  On and off... Then somebody asked what boost I was
getting, and I looked at my dash and discovered that I was having a
"popoff valve" problem - max boost was only 42 inches.  I reclaibrated
my wheel and whammo, boost 45 inches.  (IndyCar, but the principles are
the same.)  Afte rthat I watched, and I discovered that after the system
had been on a long time, I always ended up with low boost.  The sound board
was thermally drifting.  It didn't help that I found that the sound board
was RIGHT over my cpu, and the little CPU fan was blowing... directly on
the sound board!

So I got a Thrustmaster ACM game card, and thermal or not, it is super stable.
Of course, they only cost about $20 here in Silicon Valley...

I asked the same question a couple of months ago while I was waiting
impatiently for my T-2 to arrive by mail...and I was advised not to
get a game card...I didn't, and I don't need one.  I plugged it into
my SB16, and everything works great..

Also, if you have the need, get what I just got => A Joyswitch!  It's
a GREAT little item.  I have my T-2 wheel and pedals, my MS Sidewinder
Pro, my CH Flightstick, and 2 Gamepads (on a Y-cable) all plugged in to
this little beauty (okay..I have too many joysticks!).  Just switch it to
what you want to use for a given game, and presto!  It works every time.
No more reaching around the back of the PC to switch controllers.

running it through my IBMTHINKPAD 755cd midi/joystick port without a problem.

Don't bother. I've got a sb awe32 and a p133, and with f1gp2/vkarts/nascar the
wheel works really good. So no need for an extra game card with variable speed.
My pc is also out of slots so i was worried too, but IT WORKS GREAT!!

You can get the Joyswitch for around $40.00 from a mail order company
called Flight Sim Central.  Here's where you can reach 'em:

Phone: (800)477-7467

You can also get it locally, if you have any Egghead Software places near
you.  I'm not sure what the price is there, but I know that they carry it!

Yeah, I was seriously considering getting a game card, which was annoying because they only appeared to
be available in the US. When I started playing ICR2 with it, I was jerking all over the place, luckily
that was due to loose soldering inside the T2. After that was sorted out there were no problems at all.
I don't know what all this stuff about speed adjustable game cards is, I've not heard of anyone needing
one!

I had to use the ACM-card (trustmaster) to get the T2 work in my P166 (Asus).
Without it, I couldn't get the car to stand still, even after multiple re-calibrations.
With the ACM speed adj card it works perfect.
