Video Card?

Video Card?

I know this subject has been covered, but I need some assistance. I am
upgrading my system to an Asus TX97 motherboard, 64 M SDRAM, Pent 233
MMX (Pent 1). I bought a Diamond Viper 330, but have not opened it yet.
My old video card is a Diamond Stealth 64 (2100 I believe). I play
Nascar 2, Indy 2, Rally Championship, GP2,GP Legends demo (and real
game), Flight Unlimited II, and FS98. My question is what card would be
best for me, a Rendition based card like a Stealth II, Viper 330, or
3DFX? If a 3DFX card is used, is my old video card usable? Sorry to be
so long winded, but thanks for the help in advance.

Difficult to say, all three card have their strong points. The Steath II
which is a rendition card can run accelerated versions of ICR2, NASCAR2 and
GPL, (although the 3dfx can do the last two) quite fast. The Viper 330 which
is a RIVA card, has excellent scalable 3D performace for Direct3D and
although still debateable OpenGL. The 3dfx is a solid 3D only card, which
has widespread industry support and excellent speed and image quality.
Personally I would send the Viper back and get a fast 2D card like the
Millenium2, and a 3dfx card. Although a Steath 2 and a 3dfx would be good,
although you will lose out on 2D speed in Windows95.

Definitly get a V2. P2's and up get great performances from it, and more
support than any other card. The Jazz Voodoo 2 card should be out soon, and
it'll be way cheaper than the rest ($199 for the 12MB).
