F1 2000 - Voodoo Banshee - Help!!!

by DjFI » Mon, 03 Apr 2000 05:00:00

I've got a voodoo banshee, actualy a Diamond Monster Fusion - same chip
set any way, and it won't run d3d mode for more than 1 min or so.  My
drivers ain't compadable with dx7a, and that might be the problem.  But
I can't find any that are compadable with dx7a.  And ofcourse to play
this game, when reading the manual, you need a video card compadable
with dx7a.  I can play software, but I hardly call that playable.
Please help...

thanks.

Voodoo Banshee not DirectX 7 compatible? Yes it is.... just get the Banshee
reference drivers from: http://www.3dfxgamers.com/view.asp?IOID=44

These should work fine with your Diamond card...

Goto www.3dfxgamers.com , goto the drivers section and download the latest
"reference drivers" for the Voodoo Banshee. They'll work on your card, don't
worry.

Good Luck

Thanks to everyone who replied... but still no luck.  These reference drivers
have problems with my card.  Bad problems.  I only get 2 resolutions, 640x480
(up to 32bit color) and 800x600 (up to 16 color).  Totaly unacceptable when I'm
on a 17" and I don't use it just for this game.  Any idea?  I've reinstalled
DX7a... still nothing.  please help.

I have similar Banshee problems.  I'm really not sure what caused it, but at a
certain point in time, even some formerly working D3D titles starting crapping
out (example: X-Wing Alliance).  Might have been when I "upgraded" to DX7.
I tried everything including DXuninstall and eventually a new HD with a new
Win95 boot.  But then I still had probs with DX6.  Same as you, games would
lock up after a few seconds up to a minute or so.  Since then, I bought a
V3-3000 and all is well.   So, I don't know what to tell you except I share
your pain.  Oh, I also tried every driver imaginable, including the latest ref
drivers.

I had this happen to me too a coupla versions back with the reference drivers.
If I recall correctly it was because the monitor wasn't specified correctly.
Try correcting this and see if it helps.

find the exact make and model number of your monitor, go to the
manufacturers website , or do a lengthy web search, and get the
correct 'monitor.inf' file for your montior, this shohuld bring back
the other resolutions with reference drivers.

really does work BTW, i had thought for ages that 'plug and play
monitor' should work - and that there was somthing wrong with my
system (using creative blaster TNT), when i eventually got round to
finding a daytek monitor.inf all my problems melted away... (well at
least i got the right resolutions available...)

remember it might not be under drivers on the web page because
strictly its not a driver!

good luck
