Hmmm... info sampling from the controllers should be independent from
everything else (only dependent on the computer itself, I guess,
meaning the processor rate, bus speed and port capabilities), so in
theory that shouldn't be too problematic...

Yes, that's the conclusion at which I arrived and which I've seen confirmed.
When I first asked the question it wasn't evident, I suppose because IRL I
don't go around racing at more than 150KPH, so I don't miss motion blur
that much in a sim... I go more for higher resolution and # of colors.
