I wouldn't worry about it too much. The Grand Am series rules prevent the
manufacturers in Le Mans from competition and they also have a rule that keeps
the Panoz out of the series. So I wouldnt count out the American Lemans series
and Panoz.
However... I would love to have seen the return of the North American Touring
Cars.

Oh! You mean "Le Mans"? Sorry!

Indeed, though the Edsels have unfortunately been relegated to the
paddock in favor of those silly little Ferrari 333SP's and BMW LMR V12's.
:-) God bless Don Panoz (even if he does build the ugliest cars in
motorsport). Just spent last Saturday at Road Atlanta for the Petit Lemans
10hr/1000mi race, and I can still hear those shrieking Judd V10's. Heck,
the sight of the Pilsner Urquell girls patrolling the pits in yellow spandex
was alone worth the price of admission. Hope Eddie Jordan's getting a
commission!
BTW, the series is expanding in 2000 to include some odd-sounding furrin
spots, one by the name of Adelaide (on Dec. 31, with some big date-related
party to follow). In fact, Oz's premier, John Olsen was the race marshal at
Atlanta.
Get your Edsel Flags ready!
Cheers,
Steve B.
