racing? Realism is nice, but to get my friends to play on line it needs to
be reasonably simple to set up an internet game.

Does Nascar 2003 have a sportcar mod ??? Wondering........
maybe I missed something because he was asking about sportscars
not roundy rounds.

Online racing, using EA's servers that you
connect to automatically will drop you into a
"lobby". Here you can chat with other racers
waiting to compete, and join or start a race
session, referred to as a "pit".
A pit is it's own chat room. The person
who started the pit can choose a race track,
and whether collision and damage are enabled.
With some people's slow connections, collision
enabled makes driving near them unrealisticly
dangerous. The vast majority of races are done
with C/D off. Up to 8 people can race in a pit.
The physics modeling is pretty good, but an
obvious step below what you get in GTR 2002 or
other more serious sims.
The race tracks are mostly point to point
through scenic European countryside. A few
feature different routs for laps through a
peculiar Monte Carlo. The Maribeau, *** and
Porter (Sorry about spelling) corners of the
formula one track, and the tunnel, are
represented, but they are giant. I'd guess six
or eight Porsches could park side by side
across any section of that complex, which more
serious sims represent as a narrow two lane
street.
As mentioned, the races are mostly 2 to
4 minute sprints, collision and damage are
usually turned off, there is the chat session
after each race. These elements combine for
a casual and friendly community atmosphere
that might be missing if you, as a backmarker,
accidentally knock someone contending for first
place into the weeds on the last lap of a two
hour wheel to wheel battle in GTR 2002.
I've never been online with another sim of
any kind. I'd like to, but I'm afraid of
knocking one of the front runners into the
weeds.
Would someone who drives GTR 2002 online
please give a similar picture of what racing
that sim is like?

> Quick, simple, fun? NFS/PU fills that bill.

Nascar Heat is not just a Nascar sim. You should really pick up a copy
and apply the mods so you can see for yourself.
