That is like saying you want to buy a car...wheels vary in price from 50.00
to 1500.00.

Suggestion: Logitech Momo, RS shifter, RS pedals

Well, he specified "force feedback wheels" in his subject which greatly
narrows the price range you cite.  FF wheels are typically between $80-180US
and there's only about 5 worthy choices.

I prefer the Logitech MOMO.  You'll also find many enjoy Microsoft FF, the
old Logitech Wingman FF, and Act Labs Force RS.  Your best bet is to buy and
try the MOMO and Microsoft at your local stores (Best Buy carries them in my
area).  You can't try the Act Labs since it's only available directly from
the manufacturer (I've never seen it in stores).  You might find a
refurbished LWFF for $50 which would be a steal since I own one and like it
very much (not up to MOMO standards but nice).

I had a Logitech FF and will never get another. It wore out quickly (7
months of occasional use); and Best Buy's replacement procedure is
deplorable! Luckily I didn't have to pay for it the first time. I'm
looking at the MS FF or Momo.

I didn't know there were two MOMO wheels, are you sure the *** version is
a MOMO?  Do you have a link with photos?

I have the black leather wrapped MOMO with metal paddles.  It's a terrific
wheel.  The FF effects have a nice range that feel more organic than those
of the Logitech Wingman FF (that's an all *** red wheel that sounds like
the one you have but isn't a MOMO).  The wheel uses ball bearings which
makes it smooth and extremely precise.  I've never used a better wheel.
I've tried and returned the Microsoft FF wheel, was not impressed at all.
It felt very cheap and plastic to me.  I own a wonderful TSW2 wheel but
cannot give up the MOMO because I'm hooked on FF.

You can see it here:

GrpID=3&s=pl

I don't think it's avilable yet, at least not here in Norway. "MOMO Force"
is the real one and "MOMO Racing Force" is this new cheaper model. One could
hope that it's got better pedals than the original MOMO, but I think I read
here on RAS that it has excactly the same pedals.

Thanks for the link.

This seems to follow Logi's annoying strategy of reducing the quality to hit
a price point.  It's as if they get convinced to build a great wheel for a
niche market, it doesn't sell well enough to justify the R&D and production
cost, they tweak the design to make it cheaper and hit a mainstream price
point - rinse & repeat.

The LWFF was replaced by a piece-o-***cheaper model.  The wonderful MOMO
looks like it's going through the same "reverse-engineering". ;0)  I've
caught Logi at its twin peaks, I feel sorry for those who have bought at the
troughs.

but momo is still by that logitech company
and now I fear the momo racing is inferior
in built quality and no ball bearing
( but I could not confirm since the wheel is
in short supply and thin info )

not even logitech.com is willing to give much info
and specifics ( which is not good news )
