I bought PC *** World (UK Mag) at lunchtime - mainly for the DVD on
the front with 1.5Gb of game patches.

It has a rundown of Steering wheels in it - and the Logitech FF wheel
comes out very badly. They rate them in the following order

1. Guillemot
2. Microsoft
followed several places lower by Logitech

Has anybody got the Guillemot wheel? -it's got a ferrari badge in the
center of the wheel, and gorgeous looking pedals.

If it's up to the job, I'll get it - otherwise I'll go with Microsoft
(who I respect and trust without question).

If it's any help in the tips forwarded, the wheel/pedals I buy is
going to be used for GPL and GP3.

Huh. I have the LWFF and bought and returned the MS wheel.
The LWFF used the smallest amount of CPU cycles per FF event
plus I liked the shift paddle placement better. I am pretty happy
with it.

Many people have this wheel and apparently like it.

Bad plan actually.

GPL ran fine with my LWFF. The FF was great and I had no
problems with the pedals.

The Act labs is the Fest force feedback with the most powerful motor.  All
the reviews I seen online rate the Act labs #1 and the logitech #2  I have
an act labs with the gearshift and love it. www.act-labs.com

I've had my Ferrari FF wheel for 6 months now and it's just fab. Even my GPL
lap times are tumbling with it.
It's the best wheel I've tried by far. It's well made has excellent FF loads
of buttonsand a stick and the peddles are very good (nice progressive
braking in GPL)

brakes really nice on the Ferrari one. They don't have much resistance but I
can be precise.

the perfect wheel:
Logitech wheel
ch pedals?
strength of act lab FF
smoothness of Logitech ff
act labs shifter.
M$ clamping system

Sounds odd.  I did the same thing Greg did, I bought the MS wheel 1st,
returned it for the LWFF, and I love it.  If I had to do it over again
though, I'd take a closer look at the Act Labs one, I love the feel of
that shifter.  (which wasn't out yet, when I bought mine)

Before one goes and puts too much stock in the review,..please go back to
the issue and check for adds within the magazine for Guillemot and MS if you
see those but not one for Logitech....then I think the ol publishing arm
influenced the editorial arm.
If there are NO adds for Gulliemot and MS, then you can probably accept
their verdict as on the level.

Did they ever get the ACTLabs wheel to work with USB?
That was pretty much the main reason I took the plunge with
the logitech. Plus the shifting paddles.

My Act Labs Force RS has the option to use either USB or Serial
connectors.  I bought it just over a month ago.

Cheers

I don't know, I have the LWFF.  Was just commenting on the shifter
from the Act Labs wheel, which I would like to have as well. <G>
That shifter only works with the Act Labs wheel right?  I''m guessing
there isn't a way to hook it up to my LWFF?  (that would be perfect!)
I do like the paddles on the Logi wheel though, and I've been
completely happy with it.
