Actually this is great news. It would mean that GP2 (for W95) might be
using the WINDOWS graphics accelerators. Which DOS does not have access
to. So in theory, an appropiately written program would certainly be faster
in WINDOWS than in DOS.

Rumours say that there are 2 different versions of the game on sale. I
bought my copy of GP2 in the USA, but I am using it in the Netherlands.
Should I expect problems when linking it (modem play) to the Dutch version?
Or are the different versions basically the same.

Also: The frame rate running under Win95 is higher than in MS Dos with
exactly the same settings! I know this is not supposed to be this way but
is still is. Has anyone got familiar "ploblems"?

Is playing the game with a steeringwheel and pedals really better than the
keyboard?
If so what should be the best buy?

btw GP2 is still a great game dispite the little bugs!

this is HIGHLY unlikely, since DOS and Win95 are two different worlds,
that is, a dos app cannot normally access any of window's features.  if
you have Quake you'll notice the highly unstable system trick they have
used in order to let the game use Window's TCP/IP stack.
anyway, if the game is running in fullscreen graphics mode, it is going
direct to the video card.

I do not think it's possible for a "DOS" game to access windows'
graphics accelerators.  A DOS game in Windows "may" think that it is
giving great performance and may even report so.  However, in reality,
it is more than likely actually giving a "slower" performance.  Just
because the program thinks it is/can deliver higher fps in win95,
doesn't mean it really is.

Having said that, it may, just may be possible for a video card that
sucks raw eggs in DOS, but blazes away in Windows, to run DOS games
faster in Windows.

(There, have I been objective and fair to both sides?)

My frame rate in Windows 95 is much worse than in Dos...
