MS FF Wheel settings with GP3

I'm just starting to try out this game, but I'm really a GPL player
nowadays. I like having the separate gas an brakes in GPL, so I'm trying to
do the same with GP3. I think I've managed to separate them out; gas on the
Y axis, while brake is on the IRZ axis. Good so far, but now I'm having some
trouble in the calibration stage. When it asks you to put the pedal all of
the way forward and then all of the way back and then in the centre, I tend
to use the centring position as the same position as the all of the way back
position. Is this wrong? Should I try to find a middle position on the
pedals and take that as centre? The reason I ask is because I tend to see
the car creeping forward when my foot is off the gas pedal.

PS-Is anyone else disoriented when they try to do Monza in GPL vs. GP3? I
don't recognize the place between the two games. It's also strange because I
got used to Monza under the original GP1 and GP2, and Monza is the same
between all three versions of the game. But after doing Monza in GPL, I am
not used to modern Monza anymore.

Don't use the calibrate controller button in the first controller options
screen, use the one in the advanced controller options screen, when you
calibrate the pedals it should ask you to apply full throttle then apply no
throttle, ditto the brake.

But it asks for a full forward, a full backward and a centre settings. For
both pedals.

In the advanced controller options, first select Control Driven Calibration
(lower right of the screen), then Calibrate.
Also you may need the FF fix at

Thanks.

Reading through the readme on this file says that it removes an entry from
the registry. What were the problems found with FF wheels that required this
fix?

The wheel was pulling to the left a lot. I would suggest that you only apply
the fix if the FF is not ok, and fiddling with the FF percentage or the
Sidewinder profile does not help.
Then if you want to apply it, you can do it by editing the registry manually
and rename the key instead of deleting it alltogether. Like I did here bye
prepending XXX (this is the actual key no kidding - it's default value
should be "Raw Force"):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateP
roperties\Joystick\OEM\Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback
Wheel\OEMForceFeedback\Effects\XXX{e84cd1c6-81fa-11d0-94ab-0080c74c7e95}

That way it is easy to restore :)

There's no reason for any registry hacks. GP3 patch 1.13 addresses
the wheel-pulling-left issue.

Okay, that's good, because I do have the 1.13 patch applied already.
