Well, since you asked:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/~jbodin/

Around my house, even the dogs are cute -- but not as cute as the
ladies, of course!

;-)

FWIW, Tammy's just a beginning banjo player, but she loves it.  She
also plays the hammered dulcimer, but the banjo is the first fretted,
stringed instrument she's played.  She's taking to it very well --
pretty impressive lady, in more ways than one!

;-D

Was that the game that modeled real European karting tracks?  The demo was
very enjoyable, a nice combination of fun and seriousness.

That's the one, Frank -- and as good as the demo was, the full version
is actually MUCH better.  A VERY pleasant surprise -- like I said,
"GPL with little wheels."

You've been *playing* for more than 46 years???  Just how old ARE you...?<g>
I considered getting a fretless jazz bass at one time, but I'd have to work too
hard at it. :0

FYI, Tocca (Thomas R.), who runs the F1CS2000 Offline Championship is
considering starting an offline league for Super 1 Karting.  If you'd
like to express your interest, check out this thread on the High Gear

Ok Now! Does she have a sister? Hmmm?
For me, I basically love all types of music. My classical training began
at the tender age of 4..:o) I do prefer blues, jazz, a little country and if
it is on a 'sheet or on a radio' I can usually find the key and play along
with most tunes.. Classical music is a different story. All structure!!
Anywayz thanx for sharing the photo and say hola` to Tammy!!
Cheers Thom_j.

Well after seeing some Swiss-Hutler<sp> shifter 125 and 250cc 2 stroke
karts at Mid Ohio supporting the TransAm series, this sounded great.

To cut this short I'm glad I ferreted out a warez copy first cause its not
that good IMHO.  Bad sound, all single speed karts (bleh) so no shifting,
minimal setup options, no smoke effects.  I set the userdata joystick sens
upgrade, sim mode, no helpers nearly all full graphics and ran a few race
weekends, somewhat fun but not long term, I can't believe anyone could say
this is the GPL of karting.

I've an entire 8 lap standing start race video from an onboard cam from a
French indoor shifter kart race that gives me goose bumps every time I
watch it from the sheer sense of speed and driver ferocity tempered with
extremely clean minimal contact passing.  This game is not that.

Thom put it as a question, not a statement, all credit to the
developers though, they have tried to make it realistic as
well as fun, it's just a shame the market is so small for this
type of product, a better demo and online play may have
helped.

If you are looking for a pretty realistic simulation with even
smaller wheels, try Revolt (sim of radio-controlled cars).

Demo is very good and full game is pretty ***ive.
Where else can you get a feel for what it's like to be
5 inches tall driving an RC car (yes, theres a***pit
view - well bumper really).

Get it at places like www.avault.com

Got it! Had it for a long time! Love it for what it is! :o) Great graphics.
Great 3d. Great levels! I like the 'space' type level a lot.... Well done!
Now if the made a kart sim like 'Revolt' I'd give it 2 thumbs and 2 big
toes up!! :o)

It don't support split axis.
Combine axis and it works fine.

Have you ever DRIVEN a non-shifter 2-stroke racing kart???  Super 1
Karting does a GREAT job of simulating that experience.  Yeah, it
doesn't model shifter karts, but GPL doesn't model Can-Am cars -- in
both cases, I have to say, "So what?"  That's not what it's all about.
Non-shifter karts have minimal setup options; karting is minimalistic
racing, so what do want -- something less than realistic???

When it comes to non-shifter karts, Super 1 Karting pretty much IS
"GPL with little wheels" at this point -- and it's going to be tough
for someone to come up with a kart sim that models the genre better
than S1K.  If you don't like it, that's fine, but make sure you're
judging it for what it is, not for what it's not.

You might be surprised at how easy fretless is. For the first couple of
hours you'll feel a bit lost, but after that you'll wonder what all the
trouble was.

The first time I heard a fretless bass was on a Michael Hedges album. I
wanted to know who the French Horn player was! You can get some really great
sound from a fretless.

Thom's been playing about 3 years longer than I have, but I seem to have
gotten a slightly earlier start. The old fart.

[major snip]

I just had to check back on this thread to see how we got talking
about playing fretless bass's etc. It suddenly made me think that
many of my muso mates are also in Motor Racing and Computers.

Havent really kept in touch with them for a while so not sure if
they are into GPL but could it be there is some link here i.e.

Music(as in playing), Computer - Motor Racing - Sim playing ??

I've never played a fretless bass but love Stanley Clarke, solo
and when he was with Chic Corea. I played Guitar/Keyboards
and even had the odd warble back in the 70s/80s a few bands
and more gigs than I can remember but never anything of
significance. Well we did support Lemmy (Motorhead) once,
but that was only out of the pub as he was so pi**ed :-)

Any other muso sim players out there ?

Maxx
