Oops!  Scratch that -- the publisher for S1K was Midas Interactive:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Microids has a new karting sim coming out called "Open Kart."  It was
supposed to be released May 15, I think, but other than a few advanced
looks, I haven't heard a thing about this -- no reviews, no comments
about availability, no reports that it's showing up in stores . . .
nothing.  Which doesn't bode well for the final product, I fear.

Congrats, John!
BTW, what's the website for F1CS2K rank?  I finally bought it.

This sim rocks.
It gets little credit for two reasons:
1) Its a karting sim
2) Like so many others, it not GPL :-)

It's not perfect but is really really fun.
The full game has all real life Super 1 circuits brilliantly detailed yet
doesn't require a super machine to run well.
FF. is great but very strong unless set up correctly.
Brilliant, engine and tyre wear effects, nice rain effects.
Driver animation rocks too, no other sim has this so detailed.

It's a budget release now so i say go for it as it's cheap and really fun.
You can jump in right away and race or you can really shave time off with a
realistic kart set-up.
A very well modelled set-up as results are really noticeable.

Yip, tr***pit view, *** the engine accurately, really learning to
drive the karts properly and use the set-up options.... you'll be pleasantly
surprised.

However if you haven't done karting in real life or else you have and drive
high powered machines this isn't your cup of tea I suppose :-(

You remember Alice? There's a song about Alice.

By the way, I live just a tick over shouting distance from the church. I
made the first fretless banjo that Arlo ever saw/played. Nice guy all in
all. Who would have thunk it.

His kids are getting into the Guthrie family business too these days. Should
be interesting.

John,

Good post; I bit the $14.99 bullet and d'loaded the game.  Works well, but I
cannot get it to detect the pedals of my Logitech WFF (1st version).  Any
ideas, or is there a user site that might address that problem?

I've noticed that at the Midas Interactive support site
http://www.midas-interactive.nl/ ), a patch is available.  Have you tried
it?  If so, what does it address?

cheers,
David K

Cool!  That begs the question, though -- how are you with rakes,
shovels, and implements of destruction?  And whatever happened to the
27 8x10 color glossy photos with the circles and arrows and a
paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be
used against us in a court of law?  And what, I wonder, would the
judge's seeing-eye dog think of S1K?

FWIW, my wife is a banjo player and also an Arlo Guthrie fan.  I was
reading this thread to her and she asked the following question:

"Hmmm . . . I wonder if this is how Arlo Guthrie was able to get
involved in the peace movement?  Because he had a fretless banjo, he
no longer had to worry . . ."

She's not into sim racing, but she's tolerant of my habit, cute as all
get-out, and she's got a great sense of humor -- am I a lucky guy or
what?

I tried the demo, thought it sucked.Wtih the post here,I just had to
try the full version.
NICE!With no helps and in simulation mode, this is pretty damn fun!
The feeling of speed is great, nice graphics, funner than hell driving
on the limit. The tracks are challenging, with my favorite so far being
Buckmore Park. Thanks for raving about it guys,it's a nice addition to
the collection!
