I have a p-133 16mb - not really into configs and all that jazz.  Should I be doing something in the
configs and auto that would enhance that fps??
Also I hear you guys always talking about running with
all the graphics candy turned on, is there anyone else that finds crowds, and grandstands are just
distracting??  When I used to race, I never even saw the crowds in the grandstands or what the sky
looked like.  I just run with car textures and skid marks to concentrate on the race.  Anyways,
any help with the config stuff would be greatly apprecitated.

thanks

Papyrus,

Clone racing would be an excellent feature added to Nascar 2.

To those who don't know what clone racing is. It is basing cpu drivers
speed equal to your best lap time. Meaning you and your competiton will
be even thus making the challange that much better. So far every game
I've played that has had it makes for a much better sim. I would also
suggest adding a adjustment to the clone times (no one has done it
yet!). So if you want you can adjust for example Lap Clone time -1 sec
or + 1 sec, this just gives some more added flexability, yu may just
want to be a little faster than the comp. :)

Nascar 1 seemed to me you were slower in the beggining and faster once
you set your car up. this made the racing uneven to me. But somehow I
still managed to love it!!

Thanks,

BH

You might try running nascar by typeing   nascar -f
That makes it run with FM sound and I found it let me add a few more cars.

I used to have a 486/sx 33 with 4 megs.  I drew 4 ahead and 1 behind with
1 heard.  WIth that setup I could run up to 24 other cars and still run a
bearable frame rate with all graphics turned off except skids & paint on
and objects and wall texture on auto.

I've recently bought my neighbors used 486DX4 100 motherboard with 8 megs.
Now I run all cars with 8 ahead and 3 behind and 2 heard with all
graphics either on or auto.  It was only $150 for the motherboard with the
memory extra.  It's like a whole new game.  In the future I'll upgrade to
a Pentium and it'll be like a whole new game again.

In the mean time I'll just listen to the guys with the Pentiums wine about
not getting a good fram rate in SVGA.

Hope the FM sound helps.

By the way, since your system won't support racing HAWII, you might want
to try the driver randomizer I wrote.  It allows you to add a little more
reality to the game by having the AI cars' finish less predictably. Even
Jeff Gordon can have a bad day.  You can find it at:
