Nascar 3 multiplayer and cable modem problem?

I get execelent ping times but the game runs real slow and lots of warping.
Ive tried changing registry settings and tweaks but no luck. I have Austin
roadrunner cablemodem service with a motorola ***surfr modem, AMD k6-2 400
on an Asus p5-a m\b, 128meg  ram, s\b live sound card, V3- 3500 TV video
card...What is the fix?

I am on cable also, and found the connections to be similar to yours when
joining races.
When you join races, you are at the mercy of the host's 'net connection and
computer speed.

I experienced MUCH less warping and connection problems when I started
hosting races. :-)
