i have cable. can i race against someone that has a modem? it asked for a
phone number....

  Cable modems weren't around when Nascar2 was made.  I would be
REEEELLY suprised if you got it to work.  I would say Nascar 3 or 4 would be
your only hope.

  btw...you still should have a modem right?  Most systems still do...try
using that...it ain't cable, but if you insist on N2, that might be your
only option.

Man, it's been a while since I've fired up N2.. is there an option to
connect via TCP/IP ? That would do the trick.. you would ned to know your
friend's IP address.

I think heat.net still matches N2 players so you could race over the
internet.

Wow, been a long time since I raced N2 :) If I Remember Correctly, it
supports two multiplayer options:  modem-to-modem and IPX network. So you
have two options. One, hook up a telephone modem and call your opponent
directly. Two, you and your buddy get a IPX->TCP/IP program, such as Kali
(http://www.kali.net) or Kahn (http://kahn.descent4.org) and use that to
race over the internet. The second option is the only one that will work
over your cable modem.
