I just moved and figured to kill some time I'd reformat. Well.....still
running win98 I do NOT have a newer version of IE to play F1c. SUCKS !!!!!
Can some PLEEEEASE post a link to a site where I can download a stand alone
NOT setup version. I do not have online access yet and am using my GF's PC
to get some updated stuff. I want to burn it so I can take it home, but I am
on limited time.....thank you sooooo much for any help.

p.s. Am considering a future upgrade to XP as a result now.

Am I missing a joke? Or I don't understand what is IE or F1c or both?
Do you want to say you need internet explorer to play racing game??

Yep. I don't know why, but you do. You can't install the game unless you also
upgrade your IE. Damn stupid, IMO. Maybe EA jumped into bed with MS...

Sounds like there may have been an initial plan to have a server run via
IE? Like the original VROC run via a browser.

Okay...........thanks to all who helped, thanks Phillip. I got it running
but still decided that why it was fresh in my mind, I upgraded to XP but
will hang onto a copy of IE6 in case anyone else runs into this, just plain
ridiculous IMO to NEED a certain level of internet browsing to play a
FREAKIN' GAME !!!!! anyway, enough rant..........thanks again.

not taking sides (although I like Microsoft products),
IE 6 & others do much more than act as "browsers"!
And a tip, checkout jaggedonline.com UK, Fresh UI,
free & it'll allow you to separate shell.EXE & explore.EXE.
Far less crashes on the new machine running windows 98 SE.
Machine:
Asus p4s533 motherboard
2GHz Pentium 4
1GB DDR SDRAM (333 MHz)
100 GB Maxtor HD
SoundBlaster Live sound
32MB TNT 2 Pro video (getting ready for TI 4200 128 MB XFX card)

unfortunately some Microsoft setups are integrated, but there's always
(ok, almost always) a workaround. Fresh UI, Fresh diagnose are Good
things, along with Fresh download, free & very usable!
