The super 1 Karting demo came out today by Midas interactive.  Its quite fun
and the graphics are ok.  It has a sim and arcade mode. The sim mode is in
the demo. You may want to try it, you can get it at avault or 3dfiles.

Just played the demo and erased it after 15 minutes of playing it. I've raced
karts for 5 years now and they don't handle anything like that. The karts feel
like there on ice, and you get no sense of speed at all. I know they aren't
going 200mph but when your butt's 1 inch of the ground you get a better sense of
speed than that.
Thanks,

Not bad looking but after about 3 races I was able to win all the time. Best
lap is 54.18 so far. What's everyone else's best laps?

DataBecker's Go Kart!

I'm not going to comment on the handling as I haven't raced real karts on
tarmac yet, only those wussy ones at the local indoor kart track (on
concrete), but I do agree I felt incredibly tall. The virtual me on that
kart must be 2m05cm, at least.

Also, I find it terribly unfair to be down on top speed without the option
to change the setup to adjust.

Help guys!  I can't get this to run!  After successfully fixing all other games
by going through two days of hell on the Gateway Tech support and finally
reinstalling Windows 98, I can't get the demo to run, period.  I get two error
messages when I choose to start the game.

1.

C:\program files\midas\Super 1 Karting Demo\kart.exe
A Device attached to the system is not functioning

2.
the KART.EXE file is linked to missing export DDRAW.DLL:DirectDrawCreateEx.

I'm runnning a PII 400mhz 64mb RAM Voodoo2 system on Windows 98.  Ideas anyone?

My best time is a 51.3
the game is ok, it's better then some other recently released games and
it could be fun online.
I do find the steering to be a little bit laggy and the power on
oversteer at low speeds does seem a bit much.
I think it will be better in the full version.

These sound like errors in registry keys.  Have you tried uninstalling and
reinstalling the game?

If you have or have acces to a program such as Norton Utilities (or similar) that
can scan for broken links in registry keys, you might try that, too...

Just played the demo...  My replies to the earlier complaints...

"feels like driving on ice" - oh yeah... lack of grip.
"driver feels like he's 2m tall." - dunno about that... seams ok to me.  maybe it's
just cause I'm a tall guy.

I will say this though... nice grahics.  Of what I've done so far.. nice AI... bump
you around nicely.  Nice User Interface... well done I think.  And I hope all would
agree, or I don't know what you are on... best karting sim yet... even though there
is room for improvement.

It sounds as if he needs to reinstall Direct X.

I got the same. I went and installed DirectX7a (I was using v6.1 before) and
it worked fine.

What does the "Engine Choke" do besides the cool animation of the drives
reaching over and pulling on the choke.
What's the engine performance differenct?
when should I use it?
I don't seem to see/feel any difference when I use it.
