NR99 Video Problem

by Burt Rosenswei » Sun, 04 Apr 1999 04:00:00

I have a Diamond S220 Rendition Verite, P233MMX, 32M ram, Win95. I bought
and loaded NR1999
and the Demo of GPL that came with it. GPL runs in Win95 3d accelerated and
it looks beautiful.
I tried to get NR to run in 3d under DOS, but I get the following error
message:

DOS/4GW Professional Protected Mode Run-time Version 2.01a
UniVBE Driver not present
562288 Conventional 29187396 Normal 29187396 All 29187396 Largest
Triple Buffering
PCI Access Failed!
VPDGet found no boards
Unable to initialize video (maybe no VESA driver?)

NR does not run 3d accelerated in Windows with the S220, but it is supposed
to run in DOS.
What do I need to do to get it to run in 3d? It runs in Windows without 3d
acceleration.

You should be running nr1999 in the renditiom mode not the standard mode.  That
would be nr1999r.exe  however to run the rendition mode you should patch the
nr1999r.exe so it recognizes your s220 9which has a v2100 video chip)  as a
v1000 rendition chip. I downloaded my patch at www.bjorn3d.com.  it should be
available in the downloads, or file section.  I used the n2 patch since it did
the same thing I needed to do on nr1999r.exe
