Nascar2 & Win98 with SB PCI64

Anyone having problems with Nascar2 under Windows98 with a Sound Blaster 64
PCI card ? I can't seem to get it to work I've tried just about everything I
know. Under auto detect it finds a Ensonic soundscape but doesn't allow me
to pick an IRQ I've tried every setting even played in the registry with no
luck. I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and solved it.

My system is as follows:

Giga-Byte 686BX motherboard, Intel P2 400, 64MB RAM
"not bragging just in case someone asks for more details"

PS: Nascar worked perfect on this same system under Win95

Thanks.

Im not sure but I think your SB PCI is the same as my MonsterSound Card and
I not able to use it when I play N2 so I still have my 64 AWE.
Because if your PCI card wont work in DOS,than N2 dos'nt regonize itI think,
or something like that but than again if it ran in WIN95 than .....

Have you tried in the N2 setup to set the sound to soundblaster pro?  Then you
can manually adjust the IRQ and DMA (which you will find in the device manager
under the DOS tab of you PCI 64 Legacy device).

I called Sierra for my conflict with the sound card and he told me to set it
manually to Soundblaster Stereo
Address 220
IRQ 7
DMA 1
and this worked fine for me!!!!

Can anyone with a Soundblaster PCI64 tell me if the drivers are directx
certified?  I have an ensoniq pci and they are not.

Tried it but no go, but i did get it to work, only i have to shut down and
boot into DOS. Still no luck in Windows, so i'll wait for Win98 drivers. At
least i can still play, and thanks for everyones help.

My onboard Crystal PCI had exactly the same problem.

1.  The key step.  There were 3 IRQs for the sound(I think all PCI
sound uses 3), I had to switch two of them using Control Panel in
Win98 (disabling the relevant automatic assignments) to get the
Soundblaster legacy compatibility IRQ to an IRQ below 10.  You know
you've done it right when rebooting in DOS displays a message that's
right.

2.  Configured the sound setup in N2 manually (no autodetect) using
Soundblaster Pro Mono and the relevant settings from the DOS message
mentioned above and it now works fine.

I know this is a little cryptic, but it's the best explanation I can
give.  You need to figure out how your soundcard is using IRQs in
Win98 (Control Panel is pretty helpful) and fix that before going into
Nascar2 setup.

I had this same problem in Win95 and the solution was so simple that I wanted
to kick myself.

My conflict was between windows event sounds (I use Plus) and N2 attempting to
use the PCI card. If this is your problem, in control panel, go into sounds,
under schemes choose "no sounds" and then apply. N2 then works perfectly.

Hope this helps.
