Ok, so WHY didn't they throw the red flag?!?  A crash on the grid should have
been enough to stop the race...
They must be taking tips from NASCAR's managament... :-(

A crash at the BACK of the grid that had very little impact on anything
except Pizzonia's Jag. It was cleaned up after 5 laps under yellow. I don't
see a big problem there.
Nice new Ferrari. I think we'll see lots more improvement over the next
weeks, unfortunately for the other teams.
FIA will need to implement some more crazy rules if they want to stop
Schumacher now.

Television slot, probably.

More to the point: what the hell was Ralf thinking battling Alonzo
eventhough they were on different strategies? -He lost so much time in that
one he had to beat off Da Matta in the final laps.

That's rich, as everyone is going out of their way to make sure Schumacher
doesn't win the Championship this year.

It is a very nice car, no doubt. I can't wait for the "no new cars (for
Ferrari)" rule. :)

A red flag is so *** the cars (heat soak and a 2nd restart procedure)
that I imagine if the outer line was relatively clean then the Safety Car is
a good choice.

In the end it didn't matter, did it?  I didn't see any punctures.

It does look good, but they didn't even need the new car IMHO. The Ferraris
were still superior in the old car hence the win at the first PROPER race of
the year at Imola. The first 3 were a lottery with the weather (Melborne,
Interlagos) and a stupid first corner incident (Sepang).

It was explained that unless there was someone with injuries or the track
was completely blocked, then the rule is the safety car is sent out.

Hmm, not sure you can call it a proper race when the points leader gets
taken out on the starting line.  If that was a proper race then so were the
others.

Whoops, open mouth, insert foot.  I see you were talking about Imola, not
Catalunya.  My bad.  Also I just watched the start of the Spanish GP on tape
and I see that the points leader didn't get taken out, he actually took
himself out.  Nevertheless, my point remains the same, if the other races
were not proper races due to incidents or weather then this one isn't
either.

He took himself out twice, to be precise, once in Q, and then at the start
of the race.

He then in an interview during the race seemed to say something to the
effect that Wilson didn't give him room on the left hand side of the
track, which caused Raikonnen to crash into Pizzonia.

Since this is not at all what it looked like to me in the replay, has
anyone else seen this interview, and can confirm or correct my impression?
I'm not sure whether I misunderstood what Raikonnen said there.

Easily done as it's almost impossible to make out what he says at the best
of times! and I thought Hakkinen was 'Mr Personality'!
