Nascar 4 and windows 2000 problem

Just did a fresh install of Nascar 4 and got the latest patch
nascar 4 locks up or my screen goes blank after a few minutes
some times during a race some times before I even get a race started
I'm using Windows 2000 with all the updates
celeron 850
512 megs pc133 ram
ATI All in Wonder Radeon

ran fine in windows 98
but won't run in 2000

any idea's?
