How much of a difference is there between the 3DFX I and the 3DFX II 8
meg and 12 meg cards. I have a Pentium 233 MMX 32 megs of ram and a 3DFX
I 4 meg video with a 3D Blaster primary card. Will the 3DFX  make a big
difference in NHRA or not. Please don't tell me how much this game
sucks. I think its a good game, not excellent but good. Looking forward
to the patch that will make it load faster.

You'll probably see a 15-20% increase in fps with a voodoo2. Maybe some more
with DX6 and Glide3. Even more if you had a PII. Also consider upgrading
memory to 64 which sould help loading times.

I've heard that the voodoo II only makes a difference depending on
theprocessor.  In other words, if you just have a pentium, and switch cards,
you will see a negligible difference.  But if you have a pentium II 400 mhz,
the difference between 1 and 2 is big.  Personally, I had a pentium 2 266
and switched just for the sake of switching, but I saw little performance
gain, but heck, I was already getting awesome frame rates as it was, so it
is hard to tell if it worked or not.

You're getting 1024x768 with a single V2?? Is this something that the
game supports??? Who made the drivers for your 3dfx card??

The Metabyte Wicked 3D will do up to 1024x1024 thanks to their drivers.

Good question. I guess I thought you needed 2 V2's for that.

Another thing to always remember is that the V II allows 800 X 600 and 1024 X 768. I'd
guess the V II gives a better frame rate at 800 X 600 than a V I at 640 X 480. Replays in
GPL at 1024 X 768 with all graphics on with my 200mmx is stunning! :)))

Depends on the game.  Can't remember about the GPL demo, don't have it on my
new machine, but many games can do 1024x768 on a single V2.  The key is
whether it uses a "Z-Buffer", if so max on single V2 is 800x600, if not,
then you can do 1024x768.  Dual V2's can do 1024x768 on everything.
Basically the same as V1's, which could run some games at 800x600 without Z
Buffer.

You can do this with the standard Diamond drivers. At least in GPL.
