Just for those who are considering these two boards.
My P133 machine scored the PC Player Direct3D 'real-world' benchmark
at the 7-8 range using the Verite v1000 of the Intergraph
Reactor/Intense 3D. Using the Stealth II, the #'s doubled across the
board to 14-15. After putting in a Stingray 3D today, the same test
yielded only 11 (12 w/ z-buffering on). This says nothing about Glide
or Redline performance, just the results of rendering a pretty busy
scene of spaceships, terrain, cameras panning and zooming, etc with
all the 3D card effects enabled that can be via Direct3D.
Anyway, Voodoo 2 may crush all competitors next year, but if your
mainstay is Direct3D games, there is now a $120 board out which runs
somewhat faster than a $240 board.
Again, this makes no comparisons about memory (the Stingray has 6meg
of RAM compared to the Stealth II's 4), or 2D performance or any other
special programming. Just straight Direct3D.
Competition is good.
