Anyone know where to get the fixed setups for Nascar 2003 trucks and cars,
both gns and cup? I'd like to have them for practicing offline. Thanks in
advance.

The "fixed" setups for Cup cars came with the game, the fixed setups for cts
and gns came with the mods.  The fixed setups are the ones labelled <easy>,
<intermediate>, <fast>, <jasper>, although not all car classes have all
those fixed setups.  PWF also released expert setups for all series(IIRC)
available from the same place you get all teh PWF tracks and mods.

Thanks for clearing that up. I already have everything from PWF. So, when a
server is set with a fixed setup it actually could anything?

It can be any setup the race host chooses.  In the old days of N3 or N4, it
was pretty commonly accepted that the fixed setup in use would be default
fast, but nowadays to gain an advantage, many of the less scrupulous will
tweak a setup exactly to their liking, and use it as the fixed setup fro
races they host.  Most reputable leagues will either use the defualt fast or
expert, or setups they make available to their entire league, all depending
on the specific league rules.

Look for the following in your player.ini file:

[Multiplayer Client]
FixedSetupFile=\easy.cup.sim             ; name of the chosen fixed setup
file

Yup, fixed can be ANY setup that the starting admin has on his machine. The
racers need not have it as the setup is downloaded to the individual drivers
as they logon. Back when there was a worry about cheaters in fixed setups, I
did a lot of testing on the subject and found it to be this way. Whatever
the admin plugs in is what everyone gets, without exception.

I was shown an easy way to share setups once, if your in the game and want
to test/share setups, in a fixed environment the host can select the setup
he wishes to share, and it's automatically broadcast to all the
players....rename it to what you want, and voila, new setup to try.

To clear this up for you Clay...

If I setup a "fixed race" (or anyone) I pick the setup everyone uses for
that race...  I could be uisng ANY setup I have on my client, when I setup
the server (like in papy's or my leagues rented server).  If the server is
being run from the keyboard, and the setup is fixed then whatever setup they
set it to be that the server has in the setups folder I guess?  (most all
are run remotely so this isnt an issue to worry about anyway.)

Now if you join a server hosting a fixed, and you like the setup...  you
*DO* have the option to save that setup by going to the garage...  click
save, and name it that is all you can do until later...  Oh and you can
adjust the steering ratio in fixed races BTW...  I usually name these "gems"
after the server or the server admin...  <G>

Hope that helps...
