Now THAT is bad.

Any time a Fan gets involved it amplifies the tragedy by 100.

Also, the footage you saw was a re-enactment.  I've seen the same
footage -- no footage of the actual accident exists.

The footage I saw surely wasnt a re-enactment.  The actual footage is out
their somewhere.  We are talking about 55' LeMans Mercedes accident right.

That's what I have. After the actual tragic event, it cuts to a shot showing
pieces of the smouldering chassis...

Pat Bedard - no serious injury?!?  Ok, that surprises me...  I thought he was
in a coma for weeks?

1982.  Was that ever telecast?  I know it was a practice crash.  I have a
newspaper article with a picture of the car as it's coming apart.  I don't
recall that I've ever seen the footage, though.

I've seen a clip of an Indycar getting cut in half at Phoenix, but I can't
remember the drivers involved.  Paul Tracy, maybe?

I find that accident the most disturbing. Unlike most
disastrous crashes, there was no hard impact, he ended up
upside down and apparently wasn't injured badly, but the
car caught fire and he couldn't get out. His teammate stopped
and tried to roll the car over, but couldn't. Marshalls were
just staying and watching (well they also kept fans from
helping), drivers kept racing, passing the wreck lap after
lap. Whole thing lasted minutes and Roger's teammate (can't
remember his name) desperately tried to get him out but couldn't.

Alex.
