ICR2: Bug with Univbe & ATI

by Michael E. Carv » Tue, 28 Nov 1995 04:00:00

I have been doing some experimenting in the hopes of getting the
wonderful frame rate enhancement everyone is talking about.  I have an
ATI Mach64 card and can not get Univbe to work without disabling the
Linear Framebuffer (which I understand defeats the purpose of the VESA
2.0 enhancements).

However, it appears that this is only a problem with the way the program
loads the driver.  If I use the driver configured by the uvconfig.exe
supplied with ICR2, I can load it with SciTech Software's univbe.exe.
If I then run ICR2 (without a copy of the univbe.drv in the ICR2
directory) the program runs with out the 2-3 frames per seconds everyone
with ATI Mach64's are experiencing.  However, this does not provide any
increase in frame rates within ICR2.
