Well, I've always been a one footer in sims.  But since getting the Logitech
Wingman FF wheel (that supports separate axes for the brakes and
accelerator), I've gone to left foot braking.  I'm still having trouble
mastering this technique but I'm getting there (slowly).  In real life, I
drive with two feet (although I only use my left foot for the clutch).

And speaking of race drivers and left foot braking - F1 driver Rubens
Barrichello, who has just replaced Eddie Irvine at Ferrari, is a right foot
braker.  The Ferrari***pit, however, is set up in such a way that left
foot braking is required.  He was saying that he was having some problems
with this during testing and that the team is going to re-design his***pit
so that he can go back to right foot braking.

I heard about the Rubens situation. Bet him and Ervine are having a
blast adjusting. And i may test out single foot as well...

Try it in your road car just the once and you will see why Olav. You might
find it operating in the manner of an on / off switch until you start to
feel the sensivity <G>

One famous rally driver once said that if he wanted to slow a young upstart,
he would tell him to learn left foot braking, in the knowledge that the
season would be wrecked for the youngster.

He also went on to say that the following season after that would present
real problems once the younger driver had come to terms with the technique.

Two footer here BTW. Comes with racing karts for years.

I drive with two feet. I can't really imagine myself driving with one
foot. :)

Two feet. I've actually had to put up a plywood barrier between my feet
to keep them from ever getting on the wrong pedal,  their not to smart.

I originally drove with one foot in gpl, but I forced my self to drive with two
to improve my lap times. It took a while to get the feel for it but after
learning trail breaking my lap times improved by one to two seconds( just did a
1:27.84 at monza). I feel I can keep the car more stable in the turn's.The
changed worked for me,give it a try can't hurt. Happy racing all

Left foot braker here.......

I personally use two feet.  I've tried right foot braking before.  I'm slower
with it.  (P.B. with 2 feet is 1:04.88 at Watkins Glen.  I'm not great at
Monza, so I can only do 1:28.9 there.)

I first started using left foot braking with sims and now I'm using that
also with my real car, I'm glad it's automatic :) It took a few weeks to
get used to but now my left foot is as sensitive and accurate braker as
my right :)

Yeah, using the brake with my left foot in my roadcar is pretty impossible.
But when i race rental-karts (sad to say my only real motorsport experience)
i have no trouble at all with using the left foot.

On a program on Discovery Channel they followed the Tasman team in the 96
season, and they had put a camera on Adrian Fernandez feet while driving Road
America. He used the clutch when downshifting and heel and toe on the gas and
brake. It looked really impressive. Because of the clutch they have to right-
foot brake. In F1 there are no clutch-pedal and left-foot braking is more
useful.
