Sure, just get yourself a set of CH Pedals. They are cheap, accurate and
reliable. The GP1's connector will plug right into it and away you go!

Originally I used a "Y" connector (for attaching two standard joysticks to
one port) and re-wired it to get the pedals single axis to replace the
paddles axis on the GP1.
Later, when I got a PDPI L4 digital game port card, which has two
connectors, I just plugged the wheel into one connector and the pedals into
the other. The advantage of having done all my re-wiring in the "Y"
connector meant that the plugs were still intact. GPL can read more than
one joystick, so all went well.
A slight hitch was encountered when I got a copy of TOCA2 though. TOCA2 can
read more than one joystick, but expects each player setup to use only the
axes from one at a time. I got round this from using the "Virtual stick"
utility provided with the PDPI, which can combine a great variety of axes
and buttons from a number of joysticks and present it to the operating
system as though it was a single joystick.
On a slightly different topic, I am just coming to the crunch with the wheel
as I think the main potentiometer is wearing out. Having had a look at it
(it's a crummy looking bit of kit) adapting an off-the-shelf item as a
replacement is going to be a bit of a headache, because of the way it is
mounted. Anyone else had to do this?
