TM GP1 Wheel and CH Pedals

Hi guys,

Just wanted to post my experience with this combo - saw the GP1 dropped
to $49 at Best Buy, so I got it.  Had been using CH Flightstick Pro with
CH Pedals, seemed good enough to me.  Play lots of flight sims too so I
like the CH pedals ability to switch between single-axis (rudder) and
dual axis (gas/brake) modes.  Didn't want two sets of pedals to keep up
with in addition to a wheel, so kept using the joystick pedal combo
figuring the wheel itself didn't add that much, that the pedals were the
main difference for racing sims.

So I saw some posts that the GP1 worked well with the CH Pedals, which I
was happily surprised about - thinking the throttle/brake handles would
interfere with the pedals, but everything is on seperate axes so it
works fine.  Then the GP1 goes down to a nice $49 from like $89, so I
thought what the hell.

Glad I did.  The control difference is very very noticable - it is just
that much easier to drive a car with the wheel.  The unit attaches
pretty firmly to the desk, can get it to move a bit if I try but never
had any problems in actual racing.  The thumb buttons are so easy to use
for shifting - liked them better than the paddles mainly since you can't
use them in GP2 for shifting as far as I know, so seemed better for
consistency.  Haven't done a lot of testing laptime wise but the feel is
much better - in GP2 with the flightstick curbing could be really tricky
to avoid spinning out, but with the wheel it works just like in real
life.

Also feels great in N2, although it works best NOT using the wheel/pedal
option.

So if any of you using CH Pedals w/ joystick thinking it's good enough,
you owe it to yourself to try this - or maybe the CH wheel which I have
not seen.  The price is right and it works very well - maybe a good buy
for anyone without pedals too with the paddles for gas/brake.
