Ive been reading all the GP3 sucks posts and wonder.....
why did you buy it the day it hit the shelves knowing well enough that
it was GP 2.5 and then whine about it?
While GPL physics are well above anything that has been seen to date,
sometimes I wish they didnt release it cause now EVERYTHING is
compared to it.
If there was no GPL then we probably wouldnt see as much ***ing
going on, but the fact is, there is a GPL. :)

The problem is that the GPL physics are not well above anything seen to
date, yet a small number of people on this planet who hang out at r.a.s.
want everyone to believe it's true. Every day. Every week. Every month. For
two years now.

Viper and F12000 equal it in complexity and IMO are more accurate. NFS:PU
has an excellent physics model too.

Ask Jackie Stewart if the GPL cars handle accurately.

Even though it's an excellent sim overall, I often wish it had never been
made.

Maybe some people just need to grow up a little bit.

The trouble is that when for ages you read nothing but "cream in your jeans"
GP3 reviews on loads of websites and in magazines it then you kinda expect
it to be.....well...... pretty damn good. This is especially true if you
bought the original GP2 on day one and have loved it ever since. You expect
GP3 to be at least as good or even better. So I never thought twice about
zooming out and buying it.
When you find out that GP3 can be a bit of a dog with fleas then you get a
tad dissapointed.
Some people get very emotional and feel the need to shout about it and some
not so much.
I think a lot of the old GP2 community that don't have 800mhz PC's with
megabucks graphics cards are in a state of shock. I know I am.

Are you insane?  I've always wondered about Skotty too :)

We just like to see you suffer. ;-)

All very good in the physics department, but a lack of hard info on how it
is done suggests "the specs" don't match or surpass, IMO.

Viper is indeed sadly overlooked from a physics point of view. Having driven
a real GTS-R (though not even nearly on the limit) I must say the stock
model in the game is spot on. The game suffers a little in other departments
though. As for F1 2K and NFS:PU (and RC2000... you forgot to mention that
one) I think the main reason for me rating them not as highly as you think I
should in the physics department is simulation rate. Nothing, and I say
again: nothing, comes close to the responsiveness of Papyrus' 288Hz effort.
Which is not to say each of them isn't enjoyable in it's own right.

Someone did and he says there isn't enough grip. I agree. The minute I
figure out how to add some I will.

Well, I'm glad you didn't have a say in the matter. ;-)

Maybe somebody needs to get over the fact that there are "purists" in every
leisure activity.

Jan.

Thank you but as I said elsewhere it most definitely is not broken.
I've been using, building and fixing PC's since IBM's first one and,
honestly, there is nothing wrong with the hardware, operating system or
video drivers etc.
I've tweaked and untweaked video drivers, messed around with the game detail
settings etc and I just can't find a truly acceptable medium.
Like I've already said, some people must have lower expections of the game
IMHO.
Anyway, I'll just shut the hell up and let those that can run it well just
get on with it because I'm taking the game back anyway.

I'm starting to think that sentence should be put into the RAS FAQ <VBG>

Strange how people's opinions differ. One of the things that has pleased me
about the sim is how well it seems to run. I am using a PIII 600, 128mb, V5
5500 so I supose I ought to be quite happy with it but I get the feeling
that it would also run well on a much lower spec PC, there have been plenty
of posts around saying the same too. What exactly is it your problem with
it?? Does it just not run well or are you simply disappointed with the sim
in general.
