I just dusted off an old Need for speed Porsche as I havent played it in a
while - However, it will not run under XP - Is there any simple way around
this. I downloaded a so called XP fix, but it still wont work.

Thanks all

I had the same problem ages ago so gave up.  BUt then I tried it again the
other day and it worked!  God knows what the difference was, I haven't
upgraded my system for years.

always check http://www.ntcompatible.com/
for older games.

NFS:PU needs to have a dll file deleted/renamed from the installation
directory for the game to start.

It hangs at the "splash" screen?

You could try one of these fixes:

1. Delete "gimmie.dll" (can disable the network part of NFS-PU)
2. Set your "paging file" to zero or a quite small value (256Mb) (Might not
make you other applications happy)
3. Install a registry fix some kind soul made that forces XP to handle
memory in a "Win98-fashion" when NFS-PU runs or something like that. (The
real fix)
