DXtweak for DX8

DXtweak for DX8

I reinstalled N4 just for the novelty and to remind me why I hate to go
round in circles ;-)  Any way,  N4 seems to be set up with a very big dead
zone in the steering department.  When I come to a turn at Indy I have to go
from steering to the right at about one o'clock to steering to the left at
about 11 o'clock before there's any steering input to the car.  This creates
havoc when trying to build a stable setup as you can imagine.

I found DXtweak for DX5,6,7 but nothing for DX8.  Anyone know where I
can pick up a tweaking application for DX8?  or even know how to manually
tweak it in the registry?

I found the same version I'd been using with DX7 also worked with DX8.

I like CTFJ better than DXtweak, get it at:

Open regedit and click yourself to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaResources\joystick\

Find the value "JoystickUserValues" and edit the six last DWORDs to adjust
the deadzone. There is a link below to a GIF to show you the values to edit
for each axis (specified as a percentage). Only X & Y  is handled by the
system driver, and the deadzone is valid for all controllers connected to
the computer. Remember that the data is in hex format, so after 09 you have
to type 0A, 0B etc...

I have this fresh in memory as I am writing a joystick utility right now.:)

You probably already know this, but also check the linearity setting in the
game.  By default it sets it at 20 and with an ECCI I'm at 93.
