GPL + DX8 = no GPL!!??

I recently installed Leadfoot on my system and DX8 kinda came with the package.
 Now the sound in GPL is fouled up and 9 ot of 10 times it freezes after 5-10
minutes of driving.  Has anyone else had a problem with GPL and DX8?  It seems
everytime a new version of DX comes out I have to do something to get all my
sims to work again (which brings me to my hatred of Microsoft but thats another
matter).  My system is a P2 300mhz, VooDoo3 2000 PCI, Cyrstal PnP on board
sound, Win95 (the final version).  I know I should get a new soundcard but I'm
waiting to just get a new computer around when WSC comes out.  Is there
anything I can do to fix my GPL?!  TIA

May want to try installing the latest version of DX8.  If that doesn't work, here's
a way to go back http://www.ebrink.com/dxun/Direct.htm

GPL and DX8 coexist nicely on my system.  Well, actually a beta of DX8.1.
