T2 locked up in N1 AND 2...

by Jimmy and Lis » Thu, 20 Feb 1997 04:00:00

I FINALLY got into Hawaii last night after about 8 MONTHS (LOOOONG
MONTHS) of trying to race.  I upgraded my computer (modem, video, P133)
and tried "just for the heck of it" to get in.  Imagine my surprise when
I FINALLY get past the BBS and into the race scheduler!  E***ment
filled me as I picked Martinsville and waited for others to join in.  We
go to the track, and, while sitting on pit road, my car took off by
itself!  I immediately exited the race, and back to "regular" NASCAR
from my C: drive.  I went to calibrate the wheel (Thrustmaster T2 with
adapter) and the only axis it would read was Joy 1 up/down without me
touching anything!  In EVERYTHING I tried to cal, this is all it would
recognize.  Shift up/down, steering, reverse, brake, accelerate...
"Hmmm," I thought.  "This worked this afternoon..."  So I went into
NASCAR 2 to see if it worked.  Same thing!  I can't even get Win95 to
recognize it now.  I didn't have this problem until I went onto Hawaii
tonight.  Both games worked without a problem until now.

   Any ideas...??????

Rest assured, this wasn't caused by Hawaii.  It sounds like either
your T2 is hosed, you are sharing an interrupt somewhere (one of the
pitfalls of plug-n-pray), or you have multiple joystick ports.  What is
your T2 plugged in to?  Do you have a new sound board?  Are you using
a dedicated game card?  Try running MSD and see what it reports.  Try
getting a small freeware utility that will just test your joystick(s).
