To be honest with you the only time I've seen this happen was when the disk
being installed was a "backup" disk, not an original. If it is the original
disk, I would direct your questions to www.papy.com

Best of luck,

edb

PS: There are apparently some legitimate problems with the CD copy
protection system, go to the above link, click on Forums, then click on
Nascar3 forum (the Nascar 4 forum is in there) and read/post with people
having similar problems.

PSS: In other words, like many people who have the CD problem, you're
screwed.  The fact that there are a good many people who cannot play a game
that they paid money for because of some copy-protection scheme seems to
escape the notice of Sierra.  As of now, Sierra is only suggesting ways of
getting around a problem that they created.  There's none of this-- "Well,
we goofed.  And until we fix our mistake here's a workaround."  It's more
like, in so many words-- "Well, tough luck.  We know you paid money for a
game that you can't play.  But, heck, that's not our problem.  It's yours.
So in our infinite graciousness, here's a workaround."

It's a sad situation.

Or, many people out there purchased hardware (CD, CDR, DVD drives) from
companies that have failed to properly incorporate support for one of the
most popular copy-protection systems used by software developers.

Well, he can still PLAY the game fine.  He just has to go through the Startmenu
to do it.

Y'know, I think I had the same problem with Nascar 3.  If I tried to run the
program from inserting the CD, it would crash.  I had to run it from the
menu...
I never figured out why... :(
