hi,

i've watched the first 45 minutes or so of Driven.

What do the Cart cars have in the pedal setup?  Everytime somebody
wants to overtake, there is this pump action pedal thing that the
drivers do and it lets them overtake.

I don't understand.  Oh well...

I hope the movie gets better.  I might even watch the rest of it.

I'm dreading to go back and watch Driver after many years.  My memory
probably does it too much justice.  I'd had to watch it again and be
disappointed.  I always used to refer to the chase in Bullitt as the
best car chase I'd seen, even though I'd last seen the movie > 15
years ago.  I bought the DVD last year and was royally disappointed.

For a bit of fun, watch the car chase and watch them use the same
footage of a green beetle being passed 3 times, each time viewed from
a different camera angle.  I can't believe i'd never noticed it
before.

oh well.

Regards all,
istoff

I thought the Blues Brothers chase was pretty fun...

Silly, yeah. But fun - especially in the mall...

Call me crazy, but even though the cars aren't nearly as special as in
Bullitt, the car chase scene in The Seven Ups is more exciting in my
opinion.  Heh, good ol' Roy Schider drives the wheels off that Ventura (or
maybe it was a Nova, I don't recall at the moment.)

I hate to burst your bubble, but I think you've seen the best parts.

Or, how about in The Rockford Files when you see the car going down the
street, then coming around the corner, and it has *two less headlights*?

Whoops!

Loved Rockford. Most times they crashed/burned/blew up the Firebird,
they used an old car from the earlier seasons.

There's a spy series on NBC (?) now called Alias, the opening credits have a
Jag sedan being blown sky high, when the hood comes of you can see the sub
frame, almost like somebody pulled the engine before they blew it up ;)

>hi,

>i've watched the first 45 minutes or so of Driven.

He, I stopped Driven after 10 minutes, fast-forwarded to the racing
scenes and even skipped those halfway.. what a BAD movie.

I saw Bullit for the first time a year or two ago, I bought it on
video. Besides that the movie is a classic, I thought the chase was
the best chase I ever saw.. The funky music, racing through the
streets of San Francisco, the emotionless expression from McQueen
during the chase.. classic :))

Also nice that they kept the part in the movie where the car hit the
camera :)

Bullit...is that the movie where it starts off with the guy driving the car
into the bulldozers, and then explains the story??

Ronin.  (Frankenheimer.  Snap quiz: how were the chase scene interiors
shot?)

[snip]

I haven't seen Bullitt in a long time, but I think I remember the
Charger losing the same hubcap more than once.
They also seem to have 35 speed transmissions. Every time they cut
from a car and go back to it, you hear a bunch of upshifts.

For anyone who is interested, I have the Bullitt DVD and I ripped the chase
scene at very high quality into a Divx file.  I can send it to you if you
like (209 megs!).  I can also shrink it down for those who have slower
connections (i'm on T1).

Let me know!
