1)  Could someone who understands NASCAR rules explain to me how the last
car on the lead lap ends up in front of the leader on restarts?  Why don't
they just go all the way around to the end of the line of lead lap cars?  I
thought the pace car just picked up the leader when it cam out.

2)  Who is that girl who is always in the winners circle with Winston Cup
hat standing next to the winner and smiling?  Does she have a function?  Is
she someone important daughter?  Does she just have good teeth?  What's up?

There's some great guides to the (sometimes peculiar) rules on Nascar Racing
inside the N2k2 lessons section.

iirc - apart from the last 10 laps - whenever you're getting ready to go
green after a yellow - two pacing lines form. The inside line is those who
have been lapped, the outside line those on the lead lap.

It's an effort to help people get their laps back so they can be more
competative.

During a caution, if you are a lap down and the leaders pit, but you stay
out, you are at the tail end of the lead lap.
You can not pass the pace car, so the leader lines up behind you.
Thus, you are the last car on the end of the lead lap.

The girl you are referring to is Miss Winston.
She is the girl that Winston picks every year to represent Winston in the
winners circle.

Hope this helps..

Dave

Seems like I remember seeing him recently.  Maybe it was a replay of an old
race, though...
