No, it's actually common practice.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to run a rendition card along with a
Voodoo card in the same machine and switch between the two for different sims?

Yes it is.  I ran a Intense 3D V1000 rendition card with a Pure3D 3Dfx card
together with no problems.  As with all 3Dfx programs they will bypass the
primary 2D card and run off of the 3Dfx card.  Any D3D program will normally
run off the rendition card unless it gives you the option to run 3Dfx mode
as in GPL demo or Wing Commander Prophecy.

Absolutelly. I got Intense100 and Richeous 3DFx in my PC. It might be a little
bit of a pain to set up but once you do, the PC choses between the cards
automatically.

David Mocnay

Yup, and works like a champ.  Running a Stealth II S220 Rendition card
along with an Obsidian S-12 VooDoo 2 and love them both for the support
they offer just about any program out right now.  Tried about 8 cards a
few weeks ago and settled on these two since they seemed to work the
best on my machine.

Most definitely. I currently run a Sierra Screamin 3d v1000 rendition card,
and a Canopus Pure 3d 3dfx voodoo1 card. For sims coded to glide or 3dfx,
the Pure 3d kicks in and handles the graphics. The rendition card handles
the 2d and rendition 3d.
Works very well.

Certainly is, Ollie. :o)

I have a Rendition and a 3DFX and qquite often, just for something to
do, will switch betweem GPL demo in Rendition and 3DFX modes, or NASCAR2
in each mode.

The Rendition is the Diamond Stealth v220 and the 3DFX is the Creative
Voodoo2.  Both are superb cards which have not caused me a spot of
trouble in over 4 months.

To all,

Ok. Well I wasn't 100% sure about being able to switch to
whichever card you wanted to use. I knew it would run
side-by-side.

For some D3D games, that don't ask, which 3D card driver should be
used, you actually have to use some 3rd party tools to select the
Rendition. But I never really thought about silencing my V2... ;^)
