You forgot to mention that population was on the low side, as all the
criminals, low-lives, scum, and other generally undesirables, were sent over
to Australia last century......

Oh...sorry.  I simply didn't mention it because I thought it would've been
pretty obvious.
Of course, we should point out that those that didn't end up here were
dispatched to "the Americas"! :o)

No, we call it Bristol. Do you know any 'Poms', ozzie?

Sos for living (I'm not from Bristol ;-)

Well, I'm not going to stick up for the Great British weather, but, its not
that bad in summer, but its probably worse in winter :) Remember, all parts
of the world have different weather.

<cough cough...***er...cough cough>

goat is still two suckling pigs or three daughters......take your pick.

Really? Do you have proof.

Now, you seem to have stereotyped the UK with the 1700's, so now I'll
stereotype you, who seem to be Australian, or at least, living in Oz.
Suprise Suprise, your name is Bruce! :))

Bonza. Lets put another shrimp on the Baarbi, could just do with some
tucker.

Yes, I have been to Australia, and yes, one of my best mates is Australian,
and yes, I would like to live in Australia.

It's near the bit where the south part of Wales joins England - it's a
very nice place, good university, nice atmosphere and lifestyle.
Weather is "pot luck", much like the rest of the U.K. :-)

HAHAHAHAHAHA! This is the U.K. - British Telecom. Take a look at their
profits per second and you'll see how much money they take us for.
OTOH they've just been forced to join the 90's and start rolling out
high bandwidth services (and allowing others to do so) so expect
things to get better pretty quickly.

Cheers!

Ouch....

Until the cricket team the rest sounded like Edinburgh - huge poll
tax, good nightlife and restaurants and two ***footie teams. We're
quite a bit further from Silverstone than 2hrs but we do have Sean
Connery rather than Baldrick :-)

With a name like that I should hope so - where are the sods though, or
are they what's being chipped?

Cheers!

>No, we call it Bristol. Do you know any 'Poms', ozzie?

"Bristol Cities", abbreviated "Bristols", means something entirely different
in***ney rhyming slang, but I won't get into that.

What is a "Poll Tax"? Is that where the King decides he wants some

The Americas......??

I thought we were talking about Bristol, not Ireland...??

We got rid of most of our Paddy's with the ol "potato famine" trick......

Shame it was not 100% effective.... <g>

Yeah, that's it more or less. Government instead of king and the thugs
are only involved if you decide you don't want to pay but that's more
or less it.

It's an extra tax you pay every year depending upon the size/value of
your house (even if you are renting etc). The government tried it in
Scotland a few years ago to see if it would work (an act illegal in
itself), had riots, people refusing to pay and massice unrest about
the whole thing, concluded it was a good idea and the other countries
got it too :-)

Cheers!
