To those who have played both, which has better AI and which has
better physics (SCGT or TOCA2)?

SCGT or TOCA2?

In my opinion, of course:

Both have good AI, with the  edge going to TOCA2.
Both have a fairly good physics model, with the edge going to SCGT.

-Overall-, I personally enjoy TOCA2 more than SCGT, but thats
just my preference.

My suggestion is to buy both.

Both seem to have AI that's not brilliant, but I find SCGT's less
irritating.

As for driving - I could never get away with the handling model in TOCA.
The FFords were funky, but nothing else felt right to me at all.  And even
with 2 in-car views, I wasn't happy with either - bobbing head or sitting on
the centre console...  I'm glad I just borrowed it the game.

I bought SCGT, though, and haven't regretted that.  Driving (with the
advanced options download - which you -need- and can get for the demo) feels
far more 'right', the handling more believable.  The entire package has a
few flaws, but the driving experience overall is good.  Plus you get to
drive rewarding tracks like Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca and Sebring.  Maybe
you get to unlock good international tracks in TOCA, but I didn't get that
far.  Beware - SCGT is more of a hardware hog.

TOCA2 has a lot of followers and I don't remember reading a review that
wasn't a rave.  I've read plenty of decidedly average reviews of SCGT but I
prefer it by far.  Go, as they say, figure.

TOCA2 - more gamey, SCGT more simmy perhaps?  That's how I feel anyway, and
might explain game mag reviews...

Try the demos, then decide for yourself - that's the best bet.

I have Toca2 and the demo of SCGT and I thing Toca2 is much better overall

Toca2 opponents are a bit to easy in hardest level

the physics of SCGT are OK but I have the sensation of a NFS with gt cars,
the sound is crappy, very few views to drive (Toca2 bonet is my favorite).
It has a neutral in the gears and a lot more car configuration than Toca2

SCGT has better ai : more aggressive
SCGT has better physics : you can download the patch fron isi and the
advanced option editor.
SCGT : best graphics
TOCA2 : Funny but only with a pad or keyboard(don't use a wheel)
TOCA2 : Visual damages
TOCA2 : the graphics are ugly.
SCGT : there are many cars available for download and some people tries
to editing car shapes and tracks.
SCGT : you can download new sounds and new***pits
SCGT : you manage your career(buy your car, upgrade it with the money you
earn)

I personnaly prefer SCGT because it's more a simulation and all the
downloads available have made it a great game and corrected its
default. It's the most beautiful sim with ea superbike but less realistic
than gpl.
TOCA2 looks more like a console game : easier with a non analog
controller and the graphics make you think you have plugged you video
card to your TV.But he's very funny.

The both are also very funny to play with multiplayer mode.

What's your choice ?

I've just rented Toca 2 for the PSX, and it's not half as good as I
remember it being on this platform. MUCH better on the PC!

It rocks with a wheel! Joystick and keyboard can't come close!

Not on the PC version they're not. Especially not when supported by a
3D accerator.

Can't you do the same for TOCA 2?

Which is a tad unrealistic, don't you think?

And what about those appauling views in SCGT?

How's that unrealistic?  Don't real racers have to earn money to buy/upgrade
their equipment?

No. Their teams do it for them. ;-)

Semantics. <g>
The racing 'entity' still has to earn their keep, so to speak.
