N2 Patch: Min. Install=No Setups

by Chris Gouche » Mon, 28 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Just wanted to say that despite the README file
indicating that loading other car setups with a
minimum install is now possible, it wasn't for
me.  I still only got the typical ACE, FAST,
QUAL etc to choose from despite having other
setups saved to use.

Anyone have a different experience than this?  If
so, please e-mail me.  I was really looking forward
to freeing up some harddrive space and use the min.
install option.

Snip

Works fine for me.  Once I got the patch, I reinstalled N2 from
scratch.  The all too frequent lockups seem to kill files(scandisk
finds broken files in my N2 tree on a fairly regular basis after a
lockup) so I decided to get a clean copy.  The patch is pretty dumb in
its process and dies if it does not find several of the track files so
I loaded the track.DAT file that it was looking for and re-ran the
patch.  Later I killed all but the updated Atlanta track file since
the other track files were being updated for Rendition video which I
don't have.

With all that said, my saved setups appear right were they are suppose
to.
