Of course it did.   The PS1 had a monopoly.  It was only natural that Joe
Average was going to rush out and get a PS2 - especially since Sony had hyped it
to be 10 times more powerful than the Dreamcast - effectively killing Sega.
Never mind that instead of being 10 times more powerful, it turned out to be
more like 1.1 times more powerful.  The ethics of Sony make Microsoft look like
angels.

Rubbish.  I'm not aware of any developers complaining about the Xbox OS or
hardware.  It's better than the PS2's in absolutely every department.  There
haven't been any issues with the Xbox software.  Stop spinning lies.  The
biggest problem with the Xbox is the amount of dodgy PS2 games that have been
ported to it.

MS buying out Sony?  Ya sure that is going to happen.  MS may have a lot of
money but they are in no position to make such moves.  People like to focus
on MS and blame them for everything because they are a success.  IMHO they
have done more than anyone to make the PC more mainstream.  Sure the yare in
it to make as much $$$ as possible but isn't that the purpose of business.
I don't agree with everything they do but they certainly do some things to
benefit us all and make computing better.

Yeah, at least with the Xbox, they consulted true gamers and gave them what they
wanted.

Microsoft buy out Sony?

> Rubbish.

No it isn't.

That's because Microsoft own them.

Except obviously sales, which is all that matters really. Independant
developers will naturally gravitate towards the largest market. Which
means the best games will appear on that particular console.

Except the games themselves, which aren't very good, with a few
exceptions.

I didn't start.

roflmao! Don't you want Burnout, Metal Gear Solid 2, SSX Tricky, the
Colin McRae Series, Timesplitters 2, Silent Hill 2, ISS 2, MoH
Frontline, or any good games at all? All of those series began on Sony
machines and have been ported, and they are all pretty damn good. The
PS2 is lucky that we don't have ports of that dumbass Project Gotham
or Abe's Exodus.

I think I touched a nerve...

Forgot to say, check this out:

http://www.xbox.com/news/0209/rarepressrelease.htm

Microsoft bought out RARE (developers of GoldenEye and Perfect Dark).
Sounds great, until you realise that all the guys who worked on
GoldenEye have moved on and have now just released Timesplitters 2 on
the PS2. Then a bunch of summer-placement undergraduates badly
converted that game to the xbox.

No

No

Gotham...

Ahem - Metropolis Racing?  Or something like that.

Hasn't that series been on every available platform already?

I'll admit there are a lot of good stuff for PS2, but you couldn't pry
my Xbox out of my hands with a gun at this point.  Each to his own.

Sorry about using your name :) I've been lurking in RAS for some years and
noticed your posts. I thought a nice chap like you wouldn't mind me using
your name ;) As for the whole Ymenard thing, I have to agree... Fran?ois
would probably qualify up front, then wreck the whole field (ala
superspeedway)!!! Sorry, Fran?ois, couldn't resist.

Aussie (hehehe could almost do a french joke here "Aussi = also) V8 would
rule... I love those cars. Too bad I can't distinguish one drivers (and
cars? 2 brands?) from one another.

p.s:. Fran?ois, reste en arrire Phoenix!

Why would I mind, the Andy Warhol reference was a suggestion that this

They could do it very easily.  The power that company has right now and the
resources they command is amazing.  Heck, even with the crappy economy, MSFT
and INTC have a larger market cap than the entire American Auto Industy.

Hey!  We are racing Daytona in two weeks ;)

Je dois remonter au clas***t.  6 courses restantes, 164 points en arrire
c'est trop mais je peux finir dans le top 3.  Comme je disais en joke sur le
NROS Talladega : "Draft me if you want to finish second!". ;-D

Nice proof backing up your statement.

Yet another blatant lie.  Do you enjoy lying constantly?

So you admit that you're happy to support inferior products simply because
they're popular?  Sony adore people with that attitude.  It means they can hype
the PS3 and deliver another let down like the PS2 and still watch the dollars
roll in.

Which is a few more exceptions than the PS2 had when it was 12 months old.
Strictly personal opinion of course.

Feel free to quote me on something that has been factually wrong.  Can't?
Didn't think so...

Nope.  I prefer games that use a console's potential like Halo, Rallisport
Challenge, Dead or Alive 3, Splinter Cell etc.

You usually will touch a nerve when you spread ridiculous lies.

This would be a good start...but what I want is a game that simulates the
opening sequence in "Mad Max". (NOT Road Warrior!)  The muscle car chase
idea would make a great game...you could even mix in a little RPG factor
with the other members of the MFP. Picture if you will:

RADIO: " This is Pursuit 1. We've got to stop these bikers before they reach
civilization! We are westbound on Anarchy road at mile 17. Who can
intercept?"

RADIO: "This is Goose. I'm four miles from your position heading east. Get
the Interceptor out here."

At which point, you head out from your position, using your map window to
get to a intercept point. Then, you chase down the badguys who use all sorts
of weapons, drop debris, etc. to knock out you & the other MFP's before you
can knock them out. All with realistic physics, etc.  Make it a dynamic
campaign with the loss/addition of officers & gangs. Must repair vehicles
after missions if funds available, or motor fleet gets rag-tag. Upgrade
vehicles as your career advances. As MFP forces lose pursuits/officers,
bigger & tougher gangs move in. I could write about 20 specific missions off
the top of my head, but make it a dynamic world. Maintain law & order
through patrols, etc.  And multiplayer would be awesome, but DON'T make it
online only. Then it's just quake on wheels.

Think I-76 meets Hot Pursuit.

I would buy it, anyways.
