NFS:PU how to keep engine running

by leon » Thu, 01 Mar 2001 10:57:51

Hi

I tried but still could not get pass this  problem
which I feel somehow robs the game of realism.

Do a quick and VERY SLIGHT handbrake turn,
and you will find somehow the car insist on coming
to a stop FIRST before allowing you to accelerate.

While the car is slipping you SHOULD be able to power
on , but not in NSF: PU.

???

Also while we are on PU, is there a new replay camera
angle ?
I love to watch the race in reveiw but found the camera angles
quick awful  ( being too much zooming in ) and could
do with more "track side view ".

regards
Leong

NFS5 is not about realism.  Raise the tire pressure to 45lbs in NFS5 and
you get both higher speed and better handling.  Then try the same thing in
GPL :)

The main use of the e-brake for the pro online drivers is to assist in
rail-riding on tracks like MC1-5.  You tap it just before impact to bring
out the rear, which keeps the momentum up.

This was a source of much irritation to me, as it makes replays pretty
much useless for learning purposes (I had intended to write a trackguide for
Schwartzwald after setting a record there) -- further evidence of the arcade
nature of NFS games.  There is a (small) hack whereby you can enable the
Tach+Speedometer+TimeDisplay during replays, but there appears to be no way
to have both an incar or bumper view and these displays at the same time.
The hack involved changing a single byte in the replay file itself.  I tried
changing many other bytes in the replay file header, which did interesting
things but nothing really useful.  I also complained to an EA rep about it,
and got no response of course.  I posted about the hack on both nfscheats
and totalnfs, if you do a forum search there you might find it.

hi Roger

Yes the saved settings !!

that is also a source of irritation for me
no way to save file nor name the file ....geez

and to think that this the 5th game
yet it did not evolve to become better
just more irritating

anyway, thanks for the info
I will try the " higher tyre press " thing

best regards

There are loads of setup tips out there for the various cars.  One way
to get them is download the replay analyzer from
http://www.xs4all.nl/~eel/nfswr/index.html
and replays from the same site, and use it on them.  It shows the setup
used.  The other is ask on www.nfscheats.com and www.totalnfs.net forums.
The top drivers like Myskin and the WC 'clan' hang out there.
