Toca and F1RS on Voodoo2!!!

Well, I have been loading up all kinds of stuff on my 12meg V2
card and a few of them are absolutely incredible! If you've seen
Ubisofts SubCulture on a Monster3d card, just wait till you see it on a
Voodoo2 board. The way the ocean 'rolls ancks' above you and the sea bed
are awesome. But know for the biggies. CPR did run a little faster with
the new card and the recent demo(better framerates) and the colors are
smoothed out quit a bit, looks a little prettier. I got roughly 40-45
fps down the backstretch at Laguna with the 'no' dash and full details
on my P200/32edo/12mg-V2 combo. TOCA, well there is a little better
framerates there but nothing to jumpp up and down about. F1RS does not
recognize my V2 board when trying to install, we're waiting for a
workaround on this from Ubi...........

Till later..............

On the F1RS install issue. 3dfx has said that several game
manufacturers look for a range of 3dfx cards and then fail if one of
those cards is not found. NBA Live 98 also had this problem.

I assume that if you already had the game installed (if you had a
Voodoo1), then there would be no problem.

3dfx said the game companies would have to update their installers to
fix this problem.

So, what you're saying is that if we go out and buy new V2 cards, then we
might have trouble installing any of the many games out there that were
developed originally for the V1? I'm not surprised at this, but it's going
to be more than a bit of a pain!

Correct. if you already had the game installed, then the only problem
is to make sure to delete any local copies of GLIDE2X.DLL in the game
directory. If you don't, then the game uses the old version of GLIDE
that does not support the Voodoo2.

You probably just need sstinit.dll & glide.dll ?
