Good Sim for P133

Good Sim for P133

I would like to hear opinions on a good racing sim for my slow system -
a P133 with 48mb RAM and Stealth 220 video card.  I know GPL is out of
the question (and I sure wish it wasn't)  Would prefer an F1 sim but IRL
of CART is ok.

TIA

Grand Prix 2
or CART Racing.

The AI in CART racing isn't as good.  But the control of the car in
GP2 isn't great either.

If you can ICR2 to work with the Rendition patch, that would be a good one.
But I had trouble doing so with the same setup as yours.  Others have had
better luck.

I believe the same may hold for Nascar2 (don't know, not a Nascar fan).

World Circuit GP2 would be acceptable in SVGA (the Stealth is poor in DOS VGA,
which is ugly in this game anyway).  It's an old non-3D accelerated game, but
still a good one.

Without a 3dfx, I think F1RS and the "sequel" Monaco GP RS2 are out of the
question.  Though *maybe* the latter is okay via D3D, but I have strong
doubts.

I think Cart Precision Racing would be marginal.

I've just upgraded from a P133 with 32 meg and an Intergraph V1000
that has served me well for the last two years.  My system (and yours)
are almost perfect for Papyrus/Sierra racing sims of the last two
years.  My comments...

True (there are incompatiblities between the game, written for the
V1000 chip, and your V2100), or you could look for an old V1000 card
(CL 3D Blaster PCI, Sierra Screamin' 3D), they are going quite cheap
now.

N2 runs fine on your current set-up.  If it acts a bit jerky at
times, run with the reduced texture bit-depth option (-4?).

OK, if you can find a copy (they were pulled almost a year ago).  A
good sim, but I never really got into it myself (I had a 486/66 when
it was released, and even the P133 was only midling).

   Haven't tried it.

Definitely (frame rate similar to GPL, but not worth it, IMO).

   Some other contenders:

SODA - off-road buggies - you'll have to turn down some of the
graphics to get a decent frame rate, but this underrated game had
great car handling.  Going for $15 nowadays.

GPL - '67 Grand Prix cars - a mixed review.  With your machine, you
are technically even below Sierra's minimum requirements.  However, I
ran it on my old PC and, with graphics turned way down and no
opponents, it is still a great driving experience (try the demo for
yourself).  OTOH, investing $40 or in GPL may lead you to spend $500
or more upgrading your machine (I ended up with a C300A/V2200 and am
quite happy).

   Good luck!
