What exactly *is* GPaL (if anything)?

The recent comments about GPaL seem to imply that the discussion on it
has been draggin on for ages without any concrete response. I don't
remember it first appearing, so I assume it started before my time.

So, what is this (mythical?) program?

As was already mentioned, try a search on dejanews for the full story,
paying special attention to posts by Jack Rambo.  The actual posts would
give a better idea of why this topic is a sore one.  Incredibly, the link to
the site still works.  http://www.racesimcentral.net/; will tell you what
the e***ment was about at the time.

Don't - mention - GPaL - anymore! Never!
(or do a search on www.deja.com/usenet if you really want to find out
- which you don't)

<looks at website, checks Dejanews>

Ah, I see your point exactly now. One for the "we don't speak about
that type of thing in polite company - wash your mouth out with soapy
water at once" pile, then.

Yes vaporware but what I cant understand is why no one else came up with a
similar program. All Jack was trying to do was manipulate the ini files Im
sure there are plenty of people in the GPL community that would have no
problems with this. The concept of Gpal was very sound I just think it all
got a bit much for Jack.

Yes, having looked at the "screenshot", it strikes me that the actual
programming shouldn't be that hard for anyone with a reasonable amount
of experience. I could probably knock up some of it myself in Delphi or
something if I had lots of time. And that's the thing, I think -
there's such a lot there to do that it would be tedious more than
difficult to program.
