F12K and Mixed Controllers

by BRH » Tue, 04 Jul 2000 04:00:00

I'm trying to set up F12K to work properly using my LWFF with my TSW
pedals.  This set-up is working fine in GPL, Superbike 2000, Nascar 3,
Nascar Legends, NFS:PU etc.

With F12K, I finally got it to recognize both controllers, however, it
won't recognize the brake pedal as a separate input.  In other words,
just lifting off of the accelerator results in braking being applied.  I
don't believe that I have any braking help setting applied.  BTW, I'm
using Patch 1.09.

Here's my settings:
Controller 1 - TSW Wheel with split-axis activated.
Controller 2 - LWFF (Combined axis DE-activated)
Within F12K: Accelerator = Joy1 Z-
Brake = Joy1 Z+

Now, shouldn't the brake be Joy1 Y(+ or -)?  Has anyone gotten F12K to
work properly using 2 separate controllers?  If so, what are your
settings within F12K?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

F12K and Mixed Controllers

I never said that they were crappy.......

It's just that I still have my old TSW wheel and pedals AND my LWFF.  I just
prefer the wheel on the LWFF, and the pedals on the TSW.

Just trying to get the best of both worlds (so, call me greedy), and for certain
sims, this combo works.  I happen to like F12K, and would prefer not to have to
switch my controller set-up in Control Panel every time that I want to play it..

Didn't mean any offense regarding the LWFF pedals.....  (touchy, touchy)

Still looking for help on this, if it's out there.

Yes I think you would want to get *YOUR MONEYS WORTH* out of
the TSW :-) I would sell it on ebay actually :-0

play it..

Unless you go with wither the TSW or the LWFF you will be tinkering
around...

hehe. Sorry but I just think the LWFF pedals are getting a bad
rap. I too thought they sucked, until I actually tried them. Most of
the detractors do not even try them and assume they suck. They
do not. I just plug it in and race and don't give a moments thought
to the LWFF pedalwise.

I would be surprised if it is...

I used the LWFF pedals for about 6 months, modified them with stiffer
springs, and for most racing games they are good enough.
But I really can't drive GPL with the LWFF pedals, for GPL I use my CH
Pro pedals, much more sensitive and more range...

I used to have a Logi non FF wheel, they use the same pedals as the LWFF. I
just couldn't get used to the short throw that the pedals gave, they felt
either on or off with very little in between.
My MSFF pedals have about twice the movement and I find them a bit too short
so the Logi had no chance ;)
The F1 sim I have has really long throw pedals, these suit my style :) but
it doesn't have FF :(

With pedals I'd say it's whatever suits the individual, some like it short,
some long .......

I guess I am better than you are then. At least with the pedals :-)

F12K and Mixed Controllers

by Peter Hoope » Mon, 10 Jul 2000 04:00:00

Hi there,
I have managed to get the LWFF and my Thrustmaster F1 to work together in
F12K without problem.
The steering is set to my LWFF (Joy1) X+ (Right) (Joy1) X- (Left), the
accelerator is set to the F1 (Joy2) Y- and the brake to the F1 (Joy2) Y+.

The Thrustmaster F1 is set up as a seperate axis controller and I just leave
the steering wheel to one side as it has to be connected in order for the
pedals to work OK. It is setup under iD 3 in game controllers with the LWFF
setup as iD 1. Again I have to have the pedals connected to the wheel as
otherwise it doesn't work, I just leave them to one side with the wheel of
the F1.

Not sure if this will prove of any use but if not let me kow and I'll try to
run through the process I used to get it to work.

Peter Hooper.
